We know that the Hunt deathbed confession was very dubious.

Will this also be found flawed?

I think so. But the tendency for secrecy always creates suspicions of
conspiracies

"...He makes a really serious mistake when he cites BOSSI Detective Gerry
Fulcher as saying the police brass “had the mentality of wanting
an assassination.” This is an outrageous falsehood...We certainly
viewed Muhammad and the NOI as the enemy but not Malcolm. We were
delighted by his separation from NOI and certainly didn’t welcome
the prospect -- regarded as very real by us after he denounced
Muhammad’s promiscuities -- of his murder. And his move to a more
conciliatory and cooperative posture certainly heartened those of us
observing him closely..."

For grins I looked up the definition of assassinate just to see how broad
a term it is. This is what I got:

assassinate
[əˈsasnˌāt]
VERB

murder (an important person) in a surprise attack for political or
religious reasons.

I think it's clear the murder of Malcolm X falls under that category. It
wasn't a robbery attempt or a drug deal gone bad. He had made enemies of
some dangerous people and it cost him his life.

I think HBO or some other cable channel here did a special show about the
Malcom X assassination. And if I remember correctly we once were
considering adding it to the HSCA investigations, but rejected it as too
distracting and might take away votes to pass the legislation.

What would the HSCA done without your brilliance, Tony?

It was Tony who told them, "Life is like a box of chocolates.".
