When the USA annexed California after the Mexican War, Marx asked,
“Is it a misfortune that magnificent California was seized from
the lazy Mexicans who did not know what to do with it?”

In a letter to Engels, in reference to his socialist political competitor
Ferdinand Lassalle, Marx wrote:

"It is now completely clear to me that he, as is proved by his cranial
formation and his hair, descends from the Negroes who had joined
Moses’ exodus from Egypt, assuming that his mother or grandmother
on the paternal side had not interbred with a nigger. Now this union of
Judaism and Germanism with a basic Negro substance must produce a peculiar
product."

Here is the quote in context:

<Quote on>

And will Bakunin reproach the Americans for a "war of conquest" that
will give his theory based on "justice and humanity" a bad push, but
which has been waged solely in the interests of civilization? Or is it
a misfortune that beautiful California has been snatched from the lazy
Mexicans who didn't know what to do with it? that the energetic
Yankees, through the rapid exploitation of the gold mines there,
increase the means of circulation, concentrate the dense population
and extensive trade on the most convenient coast of the still sea in a
few years, create large cities, open steamship connections, lay a
railroad from New York to San Francisco, actually open the Pacific
Ocean to civilization, and for the third time in history give world
trade a new direction.

“Thus we find every tyrant backed by a Jew, as is every Pope by a
Jesuit. In truth, the cravings of oppressors would be hopeless, and the
practicability of war out of the question, if there were not an army of
Jesuits to smother thought and a handful of Jews to ransack pockets.
… The fact that 1,855 years ago Christ drove the Jewish
money-changers out of the temple, and that the money-changers of our age,
enlisted on the side of tyranny, happen again to be Jews is perhaps no
more than a historic coincidence.” Karl Marx, “The Russian
Loan,” 1856

Tremaux “proved that the common Negro type is the degenerate form
of a much higher one … a very significant advance over
Darwin.” Karl Marx, letter to Friedrich Engels, August 7, 1866
Marx did read Pierre Tremaux’s Origin and Transformation of Man
and Other Animals (1865) and did say, quite mistakenly, that Tremaux had
taken “a very significant step beyond Darwin”.

But this was not in support of Tremaux’s supposed argument that
blacks were “degenerate human beings” (what Tremaux
actually said was that modern negroes had degenerated from a higher race
of negroes) but for his view of the influence of geological elements
(especially the soil) on human development which Marx considered
interesting for a materialist explanation of evolution.

Perhaps, BOZ can take a break from trawling the internet for anti-Marx
assertions and take time for a bit of deeper study, but accuracy and truth
is n= ot his objective, is it?

https://louisproyect.files.wordpress.com/2020/03/3-marx-racism.pdf

Boz, as usual, is ignoring the context of a quote, preferring to
cherry-pick what he has found on Google on anti-socialist websites,
displaying a lack of scholarship.

If Boz had followed the link i provided and read the You Tube comments he
would have found that i had sourced the quote to Engels.

And if he had watched the video, as i have kept saying, it explained the
context of the quote.

As i pointed out before Marx and Engels promoted capitalism at a time it
was still a progressive stage of social evolution. One reason why he
supported Lincoln and the North in the Civil War. Marx was opposed to
racialism and he was opposed to anti-semitism.

As for being racist, Marx's daughter married Paul Lafargue and he was
fully accepted into the family and he was a very welcomed contributor to
the socialist cause. He was also, of course, the one who wrote a pamphlet
called the 'Right to Be Lazy'.

It is quite true in private Marx used racist words. In fact the family
nickname for Marx was itself racist "the Moor" (Engels was called "the
General")

If i was to cite every racist remark by American presidents or prominent
respected politicians, it would be never-ending. But it is the system of
capitalism that socialist are against, not the personal qualities, or lack
of, in individual capitalists and their apologists.

an ill-judged speculation. The chap would sooner throw money down the
drain than lend it to a ‘friend,’ even though his interest
and capital were guaranteed. … It is now quite plain to
me—as the shape of his head and the way his hair grows also
testify—that he is descended from the negroes who accompanied
Moses’ flight from Egypt (unless his mother or paternal
grandmother interbred with a nigger). Now, this blend of Jewishness and
Germanness, on the one hand, and basic negroid stock, on the other, must
inevitably give rise to a peculiar product. The fellow’s
importunity is also nigger-like.” Karl Marx, “Marx to
Friedrich Engels in Manchester,” 1862.

When the USA annexed California after the Mexican War, Marx asked,
“Is it a misfortune that magnificent California was seized from
the lazy Mexicans who did not know what to do with it?”
In a letter to Engels, in reference to his socialist political competitor
"It is now completely clear to me that he, as is proved by his cranial
formation and his hair, descends from the Negroes who had joined
Moses’ exodus from Egypt, assuming that his mother or grandmother
on the paternal side had not interbred with a nigger. Now this union of
Judaism and Germanism with a basic Negro substance must produce a peculiar
product."
Nice to see Mcadams allowing hate speech.

In terms of the similarities between Nazism and Stalinism,Carl Friedrich
lists five main aspects that they hold in common: First, an official
ideology that is supposed to be followed by all members of society, at
least passively, and which promises to serve as a perfect guide towards
some ultimate goal. Second, a single political party, composed of the most
enthusiastic supporters of the official ideology, representing an elite
group within society (no more than 10 percent of the population), and
organized along strictly regimented lines. Third, "a technologically
conditioned near-complete monopoly of control of all means of effective
armed combat" in the hands of the party or its representatives. Fourth, a
similar monopoly held by the party over the mass media and all
technological forms of communication. Fifth, "a system of terroristic
police control" that is not only used to defend the regime against real
enemies, but also to persecute various groups of people who are only
suspected of being enemies or who may potentially become enemies in the
future.
