Interesting that from the beginning Leavelle suspected it was a conspiracy
because he didn't think it likely the most powerful man in the world could
have been taken out by one man. The DPD worked the case from that angle
but was never able to connect anyone else with the crime. To this day, no
such credible evidence has surfaced.

Leavelle would have been about 98 years old at this time and it was about
a year before he died.

Just learned an interesting tidbit from the second Leavelle interview
which I just posted. It was a federal crime to threaten to kill a
president but not a federal crime to actually kill him.
