It's an academic sort of question, but I'll post it here, where my fans
hang out. There is a photograph in the custody of the 6th floor Museum,
attributed to Eamon Kennedy, and said to be of Officer HB McLain. The
source of the identification is not given, but the other place I find the
photo, The Portal To Texas History, also cites the 6th Floor Museum.
Anybody who can Google can easily find the photo, so I won't bother to
fetch a link for this hip and groovy crowd.
The problem is that DL Jackson wrote in his notes, he said on the evening
of the assassination, that he and JH Taylor provided the escort for the
hearse to bring it to Love Field, and there is a photograph of them
leaving Parkland which shows the two motorcycle officers, one being
Jackson, and the other being the same guy in the Eamon Kennedy photo,
identified as McLain. Also, McLain, in a video interview, I think by
Stephen Fagan, claims to have been one of the motorcyclists who
accompanied LBJ to Love Field, not the hearse. Fagan even asks him if he
actually saw LBJ, as if he knows better, but McLain affirms he went with
LBJ.
So, if Jackson and McLain are to be believed, then Jackson's partner with
the hearse must be Taylor. And therefore, the Eamon Kennedy photo must be
of Taylor. I call this my, "Fagan Fucked It Up Theory." But maybe somebody
else ID'd it. I knew you all would want to hear about it. No need to thank
me.
