Well, it's not like he'd been using it

All of Mark Lane's work went for naught:

"The ring that belonged to the man who killed Kennedy in Dallas on Nov.
22, 1963, was among nearly 300 items linked to the president auctioned by
RR Auction in Boston."

No "accused". No "alleged". Just a plain and simple "the man who killed
Kennedy".

I've always been fascinated by what some people deem to be collectible.
Someday I'd like to be rich enough to spend $108,000 on an item with
little intrinsic value but unless Publisher's Clearing House pulls into my
driveway, I doubt that is going to happen. Can't blame Marina for cashing
in that ring. That's a nice chunk of change. I'm not sure what the tax
liability will be on that. She'll be turning 80 next year and that should
be a nice supplement to her income.

That article is seven years old. Hopefully she hasn't squandered the money
in the interim.

From "Marina and Lee":

"Marina later made a terrible discovery [after the police left from their
search of the Paine's home]. She happened to glance at the bureau and saw
that, again by a miracle of oversight, the police had left another of her
possessions behind. It was a delicate demitasse cup of pale blue-green
with violets and a slender golden rim that had belonged to her
grandmother. It was so thin that the light glowed through it as if it were
parchment. Marina looked inside. There lay Lee's wedding ring.

"Oh, no", she thought, and heart sank again. Lee never took his wedding
ring off, not even on his grimiest manual jobs. She had seen him wearing
it the night before......"

If he had to take it off (for some reason) and forgot to put it back on -
not likely but possible - and that's why Marina found it later (in a cup?)
then why did he leave his Marine ring on? And his bracelet?

Of course, Oswald defenders say that the fact he had his Marine ring on
(was it his by the way? Or the one his brother gave him?) shows he was
really working for US intelligence. It is a fair question though: he hated
the Marines (he told Thornley and others this); so why still wear the
ring? For appearances sake?

Every time we ask ourselves why did Oswald do this or that, it never makes
any sense. Shooting JFK and throwing his life away made no sense but he
did it anyway. The mistake is thinking that Oswald was thinking logically
about anything.

What happened to his silver "Lee" man bracelet? And the Marine Corps ring?
I once read somewhere that was Robert's, but I don't see that claimed
anywhere now. Was Lee the kind of guy who would wear a Marine Corps ring
and a bracelet to murder the president? It would seem so.

I know the ring isn't important evidence of anything (except, IMO, LHO's
conscience of guilt), but this is how historical items get "lost." They
disappear into private collections. Oh well. Mark
