Back in 2016 Jill Stein and the Green Party were blamed for losing Clinton
key states and giving the election to Trump. Before her, Ralph Nader was
blamed for giving Bush the presidency

This time around while the focus is on supposed fraud, Jo Jorgensen of the
Libertarian Party is escaping culpability in losing Trump the election.

In Georgia, Biden presently beat Trump by fewer than 8,000 ballots.
Jorgensen won 61,792 votes.

In Arizona, Jorgensen got 49,182 votes, again it could have given Trump
the state.

In Wisconsin, Jorgensen got 38,415 votes, which is more than the
difference between these candidates.

Of course, i assuming that voters for the Libertarian Party are more
Republican than Democratic Party inclined

The assumption is that all those Libertarian votes would have gone to
Trump had there not been a Libertarian candidate on the ballot. That is
too simplistic. While Libertarians tend to side with Republicans on
economic issues, they are more inclined to side with the Democrats on
social issues. The reality is that many of those Libertarians would have
sat out the election if they didn't have a Libertarian on the ballot and
those that did vote would would split. I expect Trump would have gotten a
majority but not an overwhelming majority. Not enough to change enough
races to have gotten Trump elected. It might not have changed any. Where I
think the Libertarians did make a difference is in the Georgia Senate
race. Republican incumbent David Purdue fell just short of the 50%
threshold needed to avoid a runoff. With just two candidate on the ballot,
he surely would have won. The presidential election that was probably
decided by a third party was the 2000 election. Ralph Nader got 97,000
votes in Florida. Without him playing spoiler, Gore almost certainly would
have picked up enough of those votes to overcome Bush's margin of victory
which was little over 500 votes.

I consider myself a Libertarian and have often voted that way on principle
even though I tend to favor Republicans. I voted for Gary Johnson in 2016.
Not this past election. I am so appalled by what the Democrat Party has
become I did something I never did before. I voted straight Republican. I
might do so in the future. I used to vote for Democrats on occasion such
as the past three gubernatorial races in Ohio but no more. Anyone willing
to identify with the current Democrat Party will never get my vote.
