Yes, of course it was way out of bounds.

But as one Secret Service agent pointed out it wastes their time
investigating obviously stupid things as if they were real threats. Like
when one of your minions told the Secret Service that I was planning to
assassinate the President and they sent 2 SS agents to interview me and
wondered how I knew so much about assassinations. And wasting time on
obvious hoaxes might let the real assassins go unnoticed.

I just susbcribed to this ng and did some searching but didn't
find any references to "Me & Lee: How I Came to Know, Love and
Lose Lee Harvey Oswald"

https://www.amazon.com/Me-Lee-Came-Harvey-Oswald/dp/1936296373

or to various interviews (relatively) recently with Kay Griggs.

These cleared up a few points for me, especially why David Ferrie
had white mice.

You need to read this:

Trump should propose the government provide free pacifiers for all those
liberals who still can't get over the fact that Hillary lost an election
she was supposed to have in the bag. That is one government giveaway
program I could actually get behind. Anything that would get the whiny
liberals to STFU.

"Run by Russia" is the sort of statement that shows why you have no
credibility when you talk politics.

As for "liberals caring about democracy:" increasingly liberals try
to shut up speech they don't like, and punish people for heterodox
opinions.

I agree! Thank gosh he's not a total fruitcake like Elizabeth Warren or
Howard Dean! One of the funniest SNL skits ever was about all the weird
stuff Joe Biden would say in speeches and interviews. It's an absolute
classic! Proving SNL can make fun of Liberals too! Not often, but on
rare occasion when they knock it outta the ball park! Too funny to pass
up, what comedy is all about. More recent were sightings of Hillary at a
distance running through the woods then vanish into the forest when
someone called her name for an interview. Truly Hillaryous!

Strange that you ONLY think right-wingers should have that

Much more importantly, you're not getting that this is not
about left vs. right.

Mike Pence, fanatical opponent of women's rights and
separation of church and state, is high on my shit list, but
I would give my left arm for him to be President.

Trump is going to kill a lot of people, John. How many of the
23 million he is denying heath insurance to, will die because
they can't afford surgery or a transplant?

How many more will die or be made homeless in the coming
years, as coastal cities around world get flooded?

An incompetent criminal in this office can wreak endless
disasters, and the worst are undoubtedly, yet to come.

Except that college campuses claim to be havens of free expression.

There are plenty of opportunities for a nearly unlimited range of

they stuck up for someone's rights.

I know plenty of people on both sides who are authoritarian and
intolerant. That does not make them all Fascists. Some are Communists.

Protesting and even rioting is not necessarily "fascist". Millions have
protested against fascism because they are NOT fascists.
When they have called speakers they don't like "fascist" and used
force or violence to shut down the speech, they are fascist.
So, typical of denialists you claim that when someone complains about
something that means that the person is that thing. So black people
complaining about racism are racists to you. What do they call that in
psychology? Transference?
Post by John McAdams
Post by Robert Harris
That does not make it right of course, but a great deal of the violence
was in self defense against Trump thugs, whom he told to attack
disagreeable people.
Nonsense. At the Trump rallies, the people who were attacked simply
wanted to get in and see Trump.
What are you talking about? I never said anything about rallies. Show me
the rallies you are talking about.

First, you're not getting that Griffin was making an

Nobody has a free speech right to appear on CNN.
Of course not, but firing her was the equivalent of disinviting a
controversial campus speaker.
Except that college campuses claim to be havens of free expression.
Also, there is only one CNN New Years Eve show. Only one person (or
set of people) can be on it.
I have no idea what you are babbling about. I said nothing about New
Years Eve. Do you mean the HOST? But the host can have guests.

You don't understand the concept of freedom of speech. It doesn't mean
freedom from accountability. The First Amendment states that CONGRESS may
not restrict free speech. It doesn't say an employer can't hold its
employees accountable for the things they say and that means firing them
if they choose. If Sean Hannity had called Obama a n****r, do you think
that would have been protected speech. Do you have any doubt he would have

Want to hear a couple dozen more citations from top
Republicans, John?
If I cared to do so, I could find plenty of criticisms of
Hillary from
top Democrats.
This is a false equivalency. On a busy night twittering,
Trump tells
more lies than Clinton did in her entire life.
Also, when democrats disagreed with Clinton, they
disagreed about
issues. No one identified her as a lunatic.
Have you been following her "excuses" tour?
She never did such a thing.
Post by Robert Harris
Why do you continue to try to make this about left-right,
when it is
about a raving maniac who is literally, a criminal con
artist and
confessed sexual predator?
As opposed to Bill Clinton who would not confess to being a
sexual
predator?
He certainly cheated on his wife, but he was never a
predator. If you think otherwise, prove it.
But it is about left/right.
NOOOOO!!
If you believe nothing else I ever tell you, realize that
this is NOT about left-right.
This is about a dangerous and incompetent lunatic, who also
happens to be a criminal and a traitor.
I can't think of any conservative official outside the Klan
who I wouldn't want to replace him.
Trump could just as easily have been a socialist pedaling a
free lunch platform.
Just ask yourself, what an incompetent plumber could do to
your home - or what an incompetent mechanic could do to your
car.
Now think about what an incompetent president can do to this
country, and the world.
Oh, I also forgot to mention that he was a con artist and a
criminal. In addition to the millions he stole in his Trump U
scheme, new evidence has come out, which proves that he
arranged to redirect donations to cure cancer in children, to
himself.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/report-trumps-allegedly-funneled-thousands-214709307.html

The good news is that he doesn't do these things because he
is a conservative. He does them because he is a criminal.

It ain't about right/left. It REALLY isn't.

Mr McAdams; anti-trump people are anti-fascist people.
You mean the people who *rioted* outside Trump campaign rallies are
"anti-fascists?"
Sorry, people who try to shut up speech are the fascists.
What about campus leftists who shut up and shout down speakers they
don't like? They are not fascists?
Leftists?
How about Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican National
Committee between 2009 and 2011.
Sashay(tm)!
He hasn't shouted down any speakers on any college campus.

And nasty fascists on college campuses who shout down conservative
speakers.
Fascists are right wingers.
But shame on anyone who stifles free speech, regardless of their politics.
Trump's sins are a thousand times worse, though. College students have
always been politically stupid, but we have never had a President who is
this corrupt.

Griffin's photos were a joke. Everyone on the planet knows that.

But this barrage of death threats which are often sent to ANYONE who
criticizes Trump, were deadly serious.

I have never seen Griffin play the victim before - EVER. She has been
criticized for her edgy humor and insults, but she always laughs and fires
off more joking insults in reply.

I have never seen her cry, about anything.

What we are seeing is the retaliation of a wannabe fascist dictator. We
also see it in his attacks on the news media and numerous other Hollywood
"elite", as well as judges who strike down his ludicrous attempts to block
the populations of entire nations from entering the country.

And it is spreading, which is why so many think it was OK for a Trumpish
politician in Montana to assault a reporter because he asked a question
about health care.

It's not going to get better amigo, not as long as this human sewage and
Putin stooge maintains control of our country.

That's how he won. Those people out there are rightwing nuts. Remember
Goldwater. Advocating using nuclear bombs in Vietnam. Do you remember
the 2 cars that Bowers saw drive into the parking lot just before the
JFK assassination?
Mr. BOWERS - The first car was a 1959 Oldsmobile, blue and white station
wagon with out-of-State license.
Mr. BALL - Do you know what State?
Mr. BOWERS - No; I do not. I would know it, I could identify it, I
think, if I looked at a list.
Mr. BALL - And, it had something else, some bumper stickers?
Mr. BOWERS - Had a bumper sticker, one of which was a Goldwater sticker,
and the other of which was of some scenic location, I think.
Mr. BALL - And, did you see another car?

BTW, I had one of the Trump supporters here threatening to shoot me for
wearing a Bernie shirt.

And yet you left wing "right" fighters are perfectly OK with letting far
more millions of unborn children have their lives snuffed out---even
preferring a candidate like Hillary Clinton who supported the infanticide
that is partial-birth abortion.

And no. I am *not* a Trump supporter either, which is why I voted for
neither of the last election cycle's bozos. But acting like failing to do
what *you* want in Health Care is mass murder, strikes me as almost
demented beyond words if you don't see the much a problem with the much
bigger evil of "Health Care" aimed specifically at *ending* human lives.

I have never seen anyone who is so consistently wrong about EVERYTHING!

Read this article and educate yourself:

Clinton has never supported partial birth abortion, without the
*exception* that the doctor has confirmed that the mother's life is
threatened.

BTW Brock, your god tells you to murder gays, unfaithful women, mouthy
teenage boys and anyone who mows his lawn on Sunday.

What about their right to life, Brock?

What about the genocidal slaughter by your god of entire populations who
committed the mortal sin of not worshiping him?

I am not shocked by their extreme views and willingness to take away
rights. I am annoyed by their Hypocrisy. They rail about the rights of the
unborn, but these are the same people that made abortion mandatory for
poor black people and used sterilization programs against them. And shoved
people into the ovens at Auschwitz. They only care about THEIR rights, not
everyone else's.

Clinton has never supported partial birth abortion, without the
*exception* that the doctor has confirmed that the mother's life is
threatened.
I really do want to say this about Bob as kindly as I can----no joke.
Only an idiot (or someone behaving like one) typically posts a bunch of
stuff he neither reads carefully, nor thinks much about.

From his own link---all emphasis mine:

In 2003, as a senator for New York, Clinton was on the losing end of a
64-33 floor vote to advance the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003
later signed into law by President George W. Bush. That change--barring
physicians from knowingly performing intact dilation and extraction on a
living fetus--had no exception to preserve the ***health*** or life of the
woman.

Clinton said: "I have said many times that I can support a ban on
late-term abortions, including partial-birth abortions, so long as the
***health*** and life of the mother is protected. I’ve met women
who faced this heart-wrenching decision toward the end of a pregnancy. Of
course it’s a horrible procedure. No one would argue with that.
But if your life is at stake, if your ***health*** is at stake, if the
potential for having any more children is at stake, this must be a
woman’s choice."

Note dear reader, contra Bob's assertions, Hillary doesn't just support
this *infanticide* only when the Mother's *life* is at stake, but her
*health*---- a very vague term that could mean just about anything
including minor health risks and perceived psychological well-being.

The latter could doubtlessly be invoked anytime necessary by an
abortionist wishing to grant a patient their desired late term procedure.
And indeed, as I understand it, Democrats like Clinton always insist on
leaving this "health" exception in there for this very reason. If they
would agree to a bill that limited these procedures to cases of *life*
only, it would probably get done. But having said that, there is very
little evidence that this is *ever* really the case:

BTW Brock, your god tells you to murder gays, unfaithful women, mouthy
teenage boys and anyone who mows his lawn on Sunday.
What about their right to life, Brock?
You know this is getting to be a very old *game* ---- and an intentionally
dishonest one IMO---being played by many Atheists like Bob. They first
*pretend* that the New Testament doesn't exist, and/or that it teaches
believers to carry out commands that manifestly *DO NOT APPLY TO NEW
TESTAMENT BELIEVERS*. They know full well, that Jesus commanded His
followers to *NOT* stone people for committing sexual sins, and in fact to
love and pray for even their enemies. And it take no "brainchild" to
understand that statements like this mean that Christians are no longer
under the same Covenant as in the Old Testament:

Hebrews 8:6-13:

"6 But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as
the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the
new covenant is established on better promises.

7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place
would have been sought for another. 8 But God found fault with the people
and said 8 :

“The days are coming, declares the Lord,
when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
9 It will not be like the covenant
I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they did not remain faithful to my covenant,
and I turned away from them,
declares the Lord.
10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
11 No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.
12F or I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”
13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear."

Acts 13:39:

"39 Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a
justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses."

Rom. 7:4-6:

"4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body
of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from
the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. 5 For when we were in
the realm of the flesh,[a] the sinful passions aroused by the law were at
work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. 6 But now, by dying to what
once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the
new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code."

John 1:16-17:

"16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17 For
the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus
Christ."

And there are many, many, more passages that make the above point.

And note too the "violent" and "deadly" way that homosexuals and others
living contrary to God are to be handled by commandments in the New
Testament:

1 Cor. 6:9-11 (Note particularly the implications of vs. 11, where it
becomes clear many of these self-same persons---far from being
stoned---were now part of the community of believers.):

"9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom
of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters,
nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor
the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the
kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you
were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ
and by the Spirit of our God."

....Again there are other passages and teachings that make the above truth
*clear*.

But lets give Bob a chance to disprove me. Here is my challenge to him:

Bob Harris, name *ONE* verse or passage---in *context*---in the *NEW
TESTAMENT* that commands, enjoins, or implies that NT believers should
physically harm those who commit sexual sins or who simply disagree with
Christian teaching. ...Just *one* will do.

And while Bob is "effortlessly" scrambling to find that, let me be
unambiguously clear about the Bible-believing Christians and the Old
Testament/Old Covenant. We only accept the Old Testament and its
commandments as being valid for faith and practice today *insofar* as the
*New Testament* either *repeats* them, or by *clear* implication, still
*enjoins* them. Anything else that has either been clearly set aside by
*direct* statements or *clear* implication is considered null, and void.
Indeed, it is considered *sinful* to continue to do those things because
you are thus setting aside the completed atonement work of Jesus on the
cross, and acting as if it never happened, or changed nothing.

It is true---and unfortunate----that some misguided "Christians" have
sought to apply Old Testament legal requirements to the current economy of
grace. But in so doing, they are acting in *direct* disobedience to the
the practices and teaching of Jesus and His earliest followers.

Now I'll take responsibility for their bad thinking and acting, if Bob and
other Atheists who think like he does, will kindly take responsibility for
the far greater deaths, persecutions, and stripping away of rights a
freedom that has occurred under Communism, which has been by far, the most
concrete and widespread political and philosophical expression of Atheist
ideology in modern history.
Post by Robert Harris
What about the genocidal slaughter by your god of entire populations who
committed the mortal sin of not worshiping him?
Hmmm. Let's see. Last time I checked, if there is such a God, the only
reason these "victims" and their (misguided) "protectors" exist in order
to complain about his *righteous* judgment, is because He gave them life,
intellect, and a sense---however horribly misguided and nonsensical it is
when applied to God----that genocide is wrong at all!

Now just how granting human beings the dignity of their choice to live on
forever without God (which they clearly want to do since they are refusing
to accept His standards or take Him up on His *free* offer of forgiveness
in pardon in Jesus Chris) is "genocide" I cannot fathom. It is certainly
not God's fault that when He offers them a way to share in all that He is
forever and ever (including His goodness, kindness, and mercy) many still
choose to continue to say "Nah. ...I got this!" "You keep that salvation
plan thingy to yourself---I'll do this thing my way, not yours."

I mean what a tyrant! To actually *grant* people *their* choice to do
things *their* way and not His. Which means that He simply makes sure
they don't have to put up with Him in eternity! Including everything that
only exists within His person and within His sphere of influence---which
includes all that goodness, kindness, happiness, wholeness, and mercy
stuff that makes Heaven, Heaven, and the lack thereof, which will make
Hell, Hell.

Quite simply untrue. I challenge *anyone* to read the NG Archives here
and see if I have not both criticized Donald Trump, and said he was unfit
for office. Likewise, my opinions about him are on full record in more
than one place on Facebook. I guess Bob thinks that because he tends to
blindly choose political sides, and to attack Conservatives and Rightists
under any circumstances, and to defend his fellow Leftists come what may,
that everyone else probably operates the same way. But he's simply wrong

NO!! We don't get to make willy-nilly decisions on who gets to live, and
who gets to die "out of the womb". Why then should we have near *blanket*
discretion---quite literally in this instance---*seconds* before they

Indeed, if you killed a baby lucky enough to not face this barbarity

Bob is completely ignoring the problems I stated with the so-called
"health" exception. I shall repost it again for those who both like to
read, and are able to:

"Note dear reader, contra Bob's assertions, Hillary doesn't just support
this *infanticide* only when the Mother's *life* is at stake, but her
*health*---- a very vague term that could mean just about anything
including minor health risks and perceived psychological well-being.

The latter could doubtlessly be invoked anytime necessary by an

leaving this "health" exception in there for this very reason. If they

little evidence that this is *ever* really the case:

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/441276/hillary-clinton-partial-birth-abortion-defending-indefensible "

And it is for the above reason that GOP Senator have refused to agree to
this self-same *vague* "health" exception, and why radical pro-Aborts like
Hillary Clinton desire to keep it in.

To repeat, *rarely* if *ever* is the woman's life or even overall well
being *legitimately* at stake in such scenarios. And unless some
definition is given that makes clear that "health" means a significant
risk of life or infliction of bodily harm to the woman, the baby cannot be
allowed to be aborted for the manifestly obvious reason that the *only*
thing separating it from tomb and crib at this point, is whether the
government is going to allow a woman and her abortionist carte blanche to
kill it even if the only reall risk is that she *might* be *minorly*
inconvenienced physically, or "distressed" emotionally.
Post by Robert Harris

See above folks.

Again. There is *nothing* moot about partial-birth abortion. IMO it is a
pressing *evil* that *no* civilized society should be disposed to be
allowing except under *extreme* circumstances. (I.e., those which
constitute truly *serious* threats to the life or health of the mother.)

And Bob is playing fast and loose with the facts to pretend that (a) This
risk is present in more than a small fraction of the cases where this
procedure might otherwise be allowed without proper restraints being put
in place, and (b) Hillary Clinton's record on this issue *only* looks the
way it does because she "valiantly" insisted on a "health" exception
because it would otherwise put the Mother's life in serious jeopardy.

On the last post, I should have said "...she "valiantly" insisted on a
life *and* "health" exception. That it is her position that *both*
exceptions must be in place is clear from her very own words I quoted in
this post. And it should be equally clear that insistening on leaving in
an ill defined "health" exception in the bill is a ready invitation to
permit this infanticide to go forward based on the *slightest* perceived
risk to body or mind.

Whether Bob likes it or not, her position, and apparently his, are on the
radical fringe of pro abortion politics.

bill that did not include that selfsame vague "health" exception I keep
mentioning. I don't know everything in her long legislative history, so
perhaps Mr. Harris will prove me wrong on that score---like he pretty much
*never* does. :-)

...Perhaps of interest are the below folks. The life of the mother is a
non-issue in Federal Law because it is a recognized exception. The issue
that divides the GOP---and abortion non radicals---from Hillary was, and
is, the vague and for all practical purposes *unnecessary* "health"
exception:

Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia's article on this Federal Law:

"The statute includes two findings of Congress:

(1) A moral, medical, and ethical consensus exists that the practice of
performing a partial-birth abortion... is a gruesome and inhumane
procedure that is never medically necessary and should be prohibited.

(2) Rather than being an abortion procedure that is embraced by the
medical community, particularly among physicians who routinely perform
other abortion procedures, partial-birth abortion remains a disfavored
procedure that is not only unnecessary to preserve the health of the
mother, but in fact poses serious risks to the long-term health of women
and in some circumstances, their lives. As a result, at least 27 States
banned the procedure as did the United States Congress which voted to ban
the procedure during the 104th, 105th, and 106th Congresses."

The statute also provides that:

"A defendant accused of an offense under this section may seek a hearing
before the State Medical Board on whether the physician's conduct was
necessary to save the life of the mother whose life was endangered by a
physical disorder, physical illness, or physical injury, including a
life-endangering physical condition caused by or arising from the
pregnancy itself."

"Hadley Arkes commented, in an editorial in the National Review, "[t]hat
provision went even further than the law was obliged to go, for as the
American Medical Association testified during the hearings, a
partial-birth abortion bore no relevance to any measure needed to advance
the health of any woman."[5]"

"Citing the Supreme Court case of Doe v. Bolton, some pro-life supporters
have asserted that the word "health" would render any legal restriction
meaningless, because of the broad and vague interpretation of "health".[6]
This was of particular concern when it came to anticipated arguments that
such a definition would encompass "mental health", which some thought
would inevitably be expanded by court decisions to include the prevention
of depression or other non-physical conditions. Pro-choice groups object
to this statute primarily because there is no exemption if the health of a
woman is at risk.[7]"

Link 1 is to the above, link 2 is to an interesting article that exposes
the hypocrisy of HRC and those who have tried to defend her:

She voted against the bill, because it had no
provision to abort in order to save the life of
the mother.
I guess only fetuses have a "right to life", eh?
That's *not* what Bob Harris said, nor what Hillary Clinton's position is.
My statement had nothing to with every statement she made
over the last 70 years.
My statement was, "Clinton has never supported partial birth
abortion, without the *exception* that the doctor has
confirmed that the mother's life is threatened."
And she never has.

Duh. My point proven. Contra Bob's first blubberings she does not simply

Why is it when radicals clamor for bloody revolution they assume their
side will automatically win?

In the history of Revolutions the outcome is unpredictable and both sides
suffer significant losses, often a no win disaster for all concerned. A
failed revolution can make things much worse. A case in point is modern
Turkey. It was once a Democracy but now a vindictive Dictatorship.

In Venezuela a winning revolution made things much worse and they are now
in an economic nose dive, which may portend the future of a US economy if
we unwisely vote for Socialism. Wealthy is healthy for the economy. In a
sickly economy wealth and health vanish from system. Trump seems to be
the only one in DC that understands that reality. The Repubocratz think
business-as-usual will go on for infinity. So did the ancient Babylonians
and Romans.

You need to read "On Revolution" by Hannah Arendt and "March of Folly" by
Barbara Tuchman. Internal revolutions turn rivals into bitter enemies
forever. The US system of Democracy was unique and proved political
rivals can work together by using commonsense. When they departed from
that tradition because of radicalization both North and South we had a
devastating national catastrophe that could have and should have been
avoided.

You seem to be advocating 'ethic cleansing' of Americans who voted against
Hillary Clinton. In some cases ethnic cleansing as well. The combination
of Middle Class and Blue Collar Americans were a large portion of those
voters. What would happen to this society if you and Kathy Griffin got
your wish and the Middle Class/Working Class were exterminated? The
economy would collapse with ongoing riots in the streets. No Companies,
no Jobs, no Police, no Firefighters, no Farmers, no Schools, and no
Hospitals. The MC/WC keep all those functions going. These are the
people you want to eliminate, or turn into slave labor.

That system has been tried and only functions at the lowest level of
economic activity. The Soviet Union already tried what you wish for, but
failed miserably as millions staved to death while the Politburo did
nothing. They had an abundance of slave labor and didn't need anymore
mouths to feed. Stalin made sure his enemies starved first, then the
unlucky workers who naively believed in Communism.

A Russian professor predicted the break-up of the Soviet Union and
predicts a similar fate for the US if we make the same mistakes. Trump is
wheeling and dealing to bring more jobs back to the US economy.

If that doesn't happen we are in for economic slow death or worse case
scenario, financial collapse. Then you won't have to worry about "the
Rich" you despise so much because they will bail out to safe havens around
the world.

Those left behind will be subducted into a Socialist hell. The power
groups who move into the void will be the most ruthless and well funded,
the Drug Cartels. Credit Cards and Currency will disappear. A large
number of people will work for drugs but who will grow the crops we eat
instead of inhale? In hell is where we'll be when that happens.

Maybe somebody should explain the rule of 72 to Tony. If you divide 72 by
the compounded rate of return you will get the number of years required to
roughly double your money. At a healthy 12% compounded rate of return it
would take about 6 years to double your investment. At a whopping 24% ROR,
it would still take 3 years to double up.

Boom: Dow hits 20,000 for first time ever
by Matt Egan @mattmegan5 January 25, 2017: 4:06 PM ET
Dow reaches historic 20,000 level
Dow reaches historic 20,000 level
Dow 20,000 is finally here.

After weeks of close calls, the Dow made history on Wednesday by blowing
past that key level for the first time ever. The Dow climbed 156 points
to 20,069 and was joined in record territory by the S&P 500 and Nasdaq.

The historic milestone leaves the Dow up more than 1,700 points since
President Donald Trump's victory in November. The achievement is
evidence of how optimistic investors have become about the prospects for
the U.S. economy.

"The stock market has given him this extraordinary vote of approval.
Happy days are here again," said Ed Yardeni, president of Yardeni Research.

Wall Street is clearly betting that Trump's plans to slash taxes, ramp
up infrastructure spending and cut regulation will make the American
economy grow faster. If that happens, without any disruptions to global
trade, it could propel corporate profits, the lifeblood of stock prices.

Related: The Dow's long road to 20,000
dow trump rally 20000

But the jump in stocks is also a reflection of the solid economy Trump
inherited from former President Obama. The U.S. has added jobs for a
record 75 straight months and the unemployment rate is sitting near a
10-year low.

The Dow 20,000 milestone also shows how much has changed in the U.S.
economy over the past eight years. The index crashed to a low of 6,440
in March 2009 as Wall Street feared a complete collapse of the American
financial system.

The astounding 13,500-point rise since then has been fueled by a
consistent, albeit imperfect, economic recovery combined with the U.S.
central bank's massive stimulus program and near-0% interest rates.

While the economic rebound from the Great Recession has been slower than
many hoped, the unemployment rate is now at the lowest level since 2007
and corporate profits have climbed to record highs.

"The economy has come a long way in eight years. Overall, it's a
healthier economy and does justify a much higher stock market than eight
years ago," said David Kelly, chief global strategist at JPMorgan Funds.
dow obama rally

Related: Biggest threats to the Trump market rally

Few expected the Dow to rise so much, especially after a Trump victory.
In fact, many feared a market crash if Trump upset Hillary Clinton.

Instead, Wall Street embarked on a very impressive post-election rally
that carried the Dow above both the 19,000 and 20,000 levels. CNNMoney's
Fear & Greed Index is flashing "greed," a vast improvement from "extreme
fear" mere days before the election. The VIX (VIX), a gauge of
volatility in the markets, has dropped to the lowest level since July 2014.

But the Trump rally cooled off in recent months and Wall Street hit a
bit of a psychological roadblock leading up to the 20,000 level. On
January 6, the Dow got incredibly close, rising to 19,999.63 before
backing off. Traders on Wall Street had fun with it, with some creating
hats that said: "Dow Almost 20,000."
Dow 20000 nyse

One reason for the pause: investors want more details on the timing and
effectiveness of the stimulus plans rolled out by the new administration.

"We've scaled this peak. We're going to enjoy this view for a while and
hit the pause button," said Joe Quinlan, chief market strategist at U.S.
Trust.

Related: Today's Dow is a lot different from just 20 year ago

Bank stocks have been among the biggest winners during the post-election
party on Wall Street. JPMorgan Chase (JPM) and Morgan Stanley (MS) have
soared more than 20%, while Goldman Sachs (GS) is up nearly 30%, as
investors bet on higher interest rates and less regulation under Trump.

But JPMorgan's Kelly worries that "markets seem to be pricing in the
positives, and not worrying too much about the negatives" such as a
potential trade war or fiscal stimulus that overheats the economy.

Quinlan agrees that trade remains a serious risk given Trump's
anti-trade rhetoric during the campaign. Already, Trump has scrapped the
TPP trade deal and plans to swiftly start renegotiating NAFTA.

"We need open borders, open trade and open flow of capital. If we start
going down this deglobalization road, this market is going to lose its
euphoric underpins pretty quickly," Quinlan said.

Yardeni said the jury is still out on whether the enthusiasm on Wall
Street is overdone.

"Is the market irrationally exuberant or will Trump prevail in a way
that's bullish for the economy?" he asked. "The bottom line on Trump is:
love him or hate him, you don't want to bet against him."
CNNMoney (New York) First published January 25, 2017: 9:32 AM ET

But the stock market was already at 20,000 while Obama was still President.

RT @LiberalsAreCool: Obama took #stockmarket from 6450 to 19,887. Trump
*added* 113 and thinks he made it all happen. Typical, slaps his name on
other’s work.

So many anti-Trump people really seem to have gone nuts! Absolutely nuts.
No facts, no evidence no nothing, all this mixed with Russiaphobia and
deranged demonization of Putin has gone into such extreems that people
seem to lose their grasp on reality. Facts and fiction is mixed into one
big pile of absolute hysteria. Not to mention the dead journalism that has
turned into crazy propaganda. Opinion is confused with facts, people
believing fanatically things that they have made up in their minds, social
media full of disinformation left and right... The massive disinformation
is feeding people and people feed on the disinformation, sort of a brain
fog like state...

Having said that, I am NOT a Trump supporter by any measure, but the total
whackjobish braindead-like anti-Trump propaganda fueled with anti-Putin
madness is really something to worry about. Logic and real-politick
thinking has gone down the drain. 300 000 million people and USA ends up

One of the more profound points that Sam Harris
made, is that people like Putin and Trump are not
trying to make us believe them - no one does.

What they try trying to make us believe is that
there are no knowable truths.

Instead, there are "alternative facts" and fake
news from our most trusted news sources.

From that kind of chaos, terrible things can
happen, as the Germans discovered in the early 1930's.

This is possibly, the best and most important of
Sam Harris's podcasts.

I cannot believe it myelf, but this the one single time I agree with John
McAdams!
One of the more profound points that Sam Harris made, is that people
like Putin and Trump are not trying to make us believe them - no one does.
What they try trying to make us believe is that there are no knowable
truths.
Instead, there are "alternative facts" and fake news from our most
trusted news sources.
Was it Kellyanne who invented that or did she get it from Roger Stone?
From that kind of chaos, terrible things can happen, as the Germans
discovered in the early 1930's.
This is possibly, the best and most important of Sam Harris's podcasts.

For only pretending!
Robert Harris
Well, that Bernie Sanders supporter wasn`t pretending with his attempt to
kill Republicans today. The media is already diverting attention away
from the climate of hate they have created against conservatives towards
the gun the leftist used.

Exactly. If it was a Trump or Republican zealot who did this to a bunch of
Democratic Congressmen the topic would be all about the climate of *hate*
and *guns* in America.

But don't worry. The narrative will soon switch hate---the "hateful"
right-wing rhetoric that the Left will sanctimoniously say needs to bear
some responsibility for inciting this man's "misguided" deeds.

You see it's *always* somebody else's fault---somebody *not* a Leftist
that is. ...Kinda' like on 11-22-63. :-)

Check out this editorial from the NY Times from a year ago...

https://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/15/opinion/the-corrosive-politics-that-threaten-lgbt-americans.html?smid=fb-nytimes&smtyp=cur

"Hate crimes don’t happen in a vacuum. They occur where bigotry
is allowed to fester, where minorities are vilified and where people are
scapegoated for political gain. Tragically, this is the state of American
politics..."

The irony is rich...

Which gun is it?
You know McAdams won't let us discuss assassination attempts.
He considers it off-topic.
And some lefty might bring up gun control.
And he won't allow that to be discussed.

This is a perfect illustration of how two faced the media are. When
Gabrielle Giffords was shot by a nutcase, that same media was quick to
blame the climate of hate created by right wing rhetoric. Of course they
aren't going to blame the climate of hate created by left wing rhetoric.
MSNBC not only wouldn't suggest such a thing, they all but ignored the
story. The shooting was clearly the lead story of the day but they
completely glossed over it and continued to focus on collusion between the
Russians and the Trump campaign even though they haven't produced a
scintilla of evidence there was any such collusion. Had it been a Democrat
who had been shot by a right wing nut they would have followed the adage
"If it bleeds, it leads". I guess Republican blood isn't important to
them. This is why I don't pay any attention to anything those
propagandists try to tell me. They have zero credibility.

WHat story? What story did MSNBC ignore?
You are making up rightwing crap.
Some people at MSNBC were even hesitant to mention Gun Control at all
when discussing the shooting. They wouldn't even tell us the weapon and
what capacity magazines the guy had. He's supposed to be a homeless guy
sleeping on a park bench and yet he had an AR-15 with TWO 30-round clips
and a 9mm handgun?
Did he use them as a pillow?

Ok, let's put them on a scale. On one side is Russia attacking the US
and on the other side is a homeless guy shooting a guy at a baseball
park. Didn't even kill him.
You just don't like to see your boyfriend Trump attacked.

Well, how about breaking into regular programming to announce the
shooting? Not good enough for you? You wanted it covered LIVE?
